Canada Immigrant Job Issues
Canada Immigrant Job Issues is an independent research organization driven by principles that can be universally agreed upon, not by profits. We are convinced that giving immigrants the opportunity to work in their fields of expertise regardless of color, race, or national origin will stop the abusive waste of human capital, and it will improve the current and future social conditions for all people in Canada.

National Council of Welfare
The National Council of Welfare (NCW) is a citizens' advisory body to the Minister of Social Development Canada on matters of concern to low-income Canadians. The Government Organization Act of 1969 established the National Council of Welfare as an advisory group to the Minister of National Health and Welfare. Since the reorganization of federal government departments in 1993, the Council advises the Minister of Human Resources Development. The mandate of the Council is to advise the Minister in respect of any matters relating to social welfare that the Minister may refer to the Council for its consideration or that the Council considers appropriate.

(PDF) Implications of Human Capital Research
Immigrant Skill Utilization in the Canadian Labour Market: Implications of Human Capital Research. "The Canadian economy is losing up to $2.4 billion because immigrants' skills are underutilized and up to $12.6 billion because they are underpaid."

Whatever Happened to Social Development?
..., the federal government has the moral responsibility to take the lead in promoting effective settlement services for new immigrants. Our Toronto report and other studies show that far too many minority newcomers are trapped in low-wage jobs and living in seriously deprived big city neighborhoods. Investment in better language and skills training is needed, along with practical measures to promote immigrant skills to employers and to recognize foreign education and qualifications.

(PDF) Are Immigrants’ Human Capital Skills Discounted in Canada?
This study assesses the economic value of immigrants human capital. Labour market experience and education obtained in foreign countries are significantly discounted in Canada. The economic return to a year of foreign experience is about one-third the value of a year of domestic experience, and the return to foreign education, while positive, is worth twenty-five percent less than a year of education for a native-born Canadian. The differences in incomes between native and foreign-born Canadians can be fully explained by different returns to human capital.

UN accuses Canada of racism
Canada (...) appeared before a United Nations committee on the elimination of racial discrimination to defend itself against allegations that racial injustices persist against black, Chinese and aboriginal Canadians, and that immigrants do not earn as much as people born in the country. At the same hearing in Geneva, committee members told Canadian officials Ottawa was wrong to resist giving the UN the power to rule on individual complaints of racism in Canada.

(PDF) The rise in low-income rates among immigrants in Canada
The study finds that low-income rates among "recent" immigrants (in Canada for less than five years) almost doubled between 1980 and 1995, and then fell during the strong recovery of the late 1990s. However, when focusing on outcomes at business cycle peaks (1980, 1990 and 2000) to establish comparable long-term trends, low-income rates rose each successive cohort of immigrants. Furthermore, the gap at entry in their low-income rate relative to the Canadian-born also rose over the 1980-2000 period. (...) Poverty and the economic performance of immigrants are both important social issues in Canada and each has separately stimulated a substantial body or research literature. Yet few studies focus on issues related to low-income among immigrants.
(PDF) Earnings of immigrant and Canadian-born workers over the last two decades
While earnings of recent male immigrants have fallen over the last two decades, those of Canadian-born workers have risen. As a result, the gap between the pay rates of recent immigrant men and those of their Canadian-born counterparts has widened substantially. (...) Compared to Canadian-born individuals, recent immigrants are generally more educated. In recent years, the education gap has been widening.

Free the immigrants
Canadians reacted predictably to the news that two immigrants were suing the federal government for misleading them about their chances of finding professional employment. For centuries, wave after wave of immigrants, regardless of culture and language, have been treated with the same disdain and discrimination that characterized our reaction to the Premakumarans’ lawsuit.
PROMPT - collective immigrant voice

Earnings of immigrant workers and Canadian-born workers
Despite a massive increase in their educational attainment, recent immigrant men employed on a full-year, full-time basis saw their real earnings fall 7% on average from 1980 to 2000, according to a new study based on census data. During the same period, however, real earnings of Canadian-born men went up 7%. Earnings of recent immigrant women rose over the period, but not as quickly as among Canadian-born women.

(PDF) Highly Skilled Immigrants. Recent Trends and Issues
Frequently low or arbitrary recognition from business and educational institutions, prejudicial opinions and subjective evaluations of non-Canadian training and experience, as well as job market discrimination have been shown to be causes of poor credential recognition.

Is Pay Equity a Human Right?
Sit down at your computer and do a web search using the key-words "equal pay for equal work", and what will the search engine present you with? Well, you can be pretty sure that it will present a lot of references to web sites that are focused on gender discrimination and women's rights in the work place. But is that what pay equity is about? Is it only about gender discrimination? Or, perhaps more inclusively, is this concept there to protect minorities? Or does the idea go still further than that? Is "equal pay for equal work" a universal right? Is it there to protect everyone from unscrupulous employers?

Fighting two-tier wage discrimination!
NoMoreTiers.org is a pro-union, pro-working class, website dedicated to the elimination of multi-tier, discriminatory wage policies based on any grounds (race, religion, age, sex, sexual-orientation, regular employee compliment numbers, core numbers), and all other forms of corporate voodoo aimed at the division of the working class. Our watchwords are; Equal pay (and benefits) for equal work.

MFD
This is where we honor and parody (and generally try to embarrass) some of the more despicable people for some of their equally despicable practices as they lead your labour movement. If you know someone deserving to be featured on this page please send us the vitals and a summary of why they're worthy of such an honor and we'll take it from there.

Contingent Work
This web site has been created to support workers in a contingent economy. So who are these workers? Virtually anyone who does not have a full-time job with security and benefits -- temporary, part-time, on-call, contract, seasonal workers, day-labourers, multiple-job holders, self-employed, are defined as "contingent" and are a growing segment of our economy.

Independent Media Center
Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and hundreds of journalists offering grassroots, non-corporate coverage. Indymedia is a democratic media outlet for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth.

NOLOGO
Mass privatization and deregulation have bred armies of locked-out people, whose services are no longer needed, whose lifestyles are written off as “backward,” whose basic needs go unmet. These fences of social exclusion can discard an entire industry, and they can also write off an entire country, as has happened to Argentina. In the case of Africa, essentially an entire continent can find itself exiled to the global shadow world, off the map and off the news, appearing only during wartime when its citizens are looked on with suspicion as potential militia members, would-be terrorists or anti-American fanatics.

Our Times
Just for a minute I want you to think about the anger and frustration that members of the Hospital Employees' Union have had to deal with. Since Gordon Campbell was elected in B.C., they've had their collective agreement torn up and seen 7,000 members lose their jobs.

The National Committee on Pay Equity (NCPE), founded in 1979, is a national membership coalition working to eliminate sex- and race-based wage discrimination and to achieve pay equity.

Answering Illegal Interview Questions
When first conceived, new jobs are like precious gems: They're hidden until you find them. It makes sense, then, to be a job "miner" instead of a job seeker. Job miners combine their skills, experience and connections to strike at the entire lode of possibilities. Miners are active, not passive, and they focus on the future, not the past, to create opportunities.

Illegal immigrants and the labour market
There is a frequent tendency to see illegal immigration and the underground economy as being one and the same. There is also a tendency to see controlling migration flows as being the solution to both. These views are misleading.

Observer
A new study by the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee (DAC) and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) demonstrates a clear trend toward rising aid donations to fight HIV/AIDS.

The Legal Status Of Prostitution In Canada
In Canada, honest, full service, safe sex escorting (sexwork) is the accepted norm. Since Canada doesn't have the legal repressive issues as in the U.S. ads are usually honest, prices quoted are real - not the U.S. rip offs and scams. In general prices are far lower than in the U.S. since they don't have to include the large legal risk premium. Also there are more providers, choosing sexwork for the right reasons, since there is not the legal risk.

Sex Work Cyber Resource & Support Center
We do not promote or recommend any illegal sexual services. Unlike most of the rest of the world, citizens of the U.S. do not have consenting, in private, adult freedoms. In the U.S. those in power, know what is best for you.

Discrimination and Harassment
When the time comes to recruit, hire and promote, people with disabilities are often overlooked. As an employer, you need to hire qualified people, and want to draw from the largest possible pool of candidates. This pool will include people with disabilities -- who comprise a productive sector of the workforce today -- but some of whom need accommodation on the job. More often than not, this accommodation can be provided at little or no cost.

Income Taxes - To Pay Or Not To Pay ??
On October 3,1950 the Supreme Court Of Canada ruled that the Federal Government and the Provincial Governments CANNOT LEGALLY exchange their legislative powers. (source - The Vancouver Daily Province, October 3,1950). The Supreme Court Of Canada concluded that the judgement would have no effect on the EXISTING Federal-Provincial agreements, however it was recognized that the Existing agreements would expire on March 31st, 1962. Seven of the nine judges who heard the arguments in may of 1950 were UNANIMOUS in the decision.

High Canadian Taxes and the Brain Drain
There is an intense media focus on the brain drain from Canada to the United States. At the same time, Canada is experiencing a largely unrecognized brain gain of skilled and qualified immigrants. This movement of human capital has significant implications for Canada’s values, cultures and institutions. Yet much of the public debate about the issue is based on misperceptions and incomplete information.

Info1 Canada
Although many acknowledge the Queen of Great Britain acting as Queen of Canada as only being an honourary position, Canadians are being prosecuted, jailed and fined in the name of this Queen under admiralty courts where those acting in official status hide behind the apron of this false Queen of Canada, and circumvent the Common Law and Common Law Rights of Canadians.

Detax Canada
This webpage tells you what the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the bank which apparently owns the voting shares of the Bank of Canada, and the Grace Commission of 1982 has to say about the uses of the income tax. (...) Many Income Tax information webpages are being shut down in the USA. It is likely to happen in Canada soon.

Freedom Files Website
Certainly seems the cage is getting rattled. The whole basis behind the book Cracking the Code, is to claim common-law copyright to your name. Seems like a good idea to me. Perhaps Big Brother is terrified that this is the solution, with over 3000 researhers agreeing that this is the right way, I wonder about the above mentioned article. Bottom Line is in Canada, the Federal Government is committing Fruad and Treason against their own people in so many ways I had to stop counting. The United States is doing the same thing, it is nothing less than a prison system, without bars. Like you I am just learning about all this, but it would seem that based on my own research we are on the right path.

Canada's Federal Income Tax is unconstitutional
I would like to talk with you today about money, interest, debt, and taxation. Thank you for your interest and for coming to hear me speak. I'm sure that all of you are interested in Imcome Tax, and the GST. I will no doubt give you some enlightening facts. In order to fully understand the problem that we face today in Canada, we will briefly discuss some important aspects of our history.

Canada Revenue Agency
On December 12, 2003, the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency (CCRA) became the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The customs program is now part of the new Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). On the tax side of things, it’s business as usual. We continue to administer tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most provinces and territories. We also continue to look after social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.

Black Market in Canada (...the black market to avoid taxes)
Black market transactions are potentially disruptive to society. When they occur in goods and services that have been legally banned, the black market undermines the ban. When black market transactions occur in markets for legal goods and services in order to avoid taxes or regulations, they put legitimate businesses at a disadvantage. Moreover, governments must levy higher taxes to compensate for the lost revenue. Some people in Canada work “underground” to avoid taxes, which means that they seek to avoid having their activities detected by the tax action authorities.

Taxation
All forms of taxation are theft, the world's criminal organization states steal away the profit of living and producing. The produce of your work belongs to you and no one has the right to take it from you. People are used as a commodity to make money for the state where the only value of citizens is as good taxpaying slaves that work, keep there mouth shut and do as they are told
